Julian ~ All most
I have been working very hard to master a Grand Julian… using the same base as my previous fractals of this type of design, using my own Math Algorithms. Am sort’a getting there but not where I want to be quite yet. So everyone gets to see my trials. VBG Can see how I have progressed, if you visit IK or RB.
This piece truely looks better when seen Big!

I learned the Grand Julian technique from this tutorial:

I was going to comment earlier but inevitably got sidetracked and spent the day playing with Julia sets:

Thank you for that ID. Might be easier than learning from scratch.
I get much better results using 3Dhack..instead of the 2.09. Also am stuck with just one color when I start making anything from 2.09.. not sure why, as I do not have that problem with the 3Dhack.

LOL… you sound like me when I decide to create something.
I went out and looked at the 2nd link… good grief.. those are good!! Am, No where near that level ………. yet. ;O)

Strange – it always gives a single colour when building from scratch, but provided there’s a gradient loaded, its colour can be distributed using the sliders or Flame, Calculate Colors Values.

Yes, it is weird. But it also could be a bug of some sort.. or my older Vista OS..doesn’t like the newest Apo.. or 2.09 is just a bit different from 3Dhack and I haven’t quite figured it out yet. LOL Lots of choices.
