    Ode to the YEB
    I was makin’ eggs and bacon
    On the Lincolnshire Wolds.
    Then, guess what? The power went off,
    My breakfast went stone cold.
    Up and down the hills I go
    With nothin’ in my belly,
    Think I’ll go back home again

    Oxfam Holmes book fetches £15,500

    A book handed into an Oxfam shop which contains the first Sherlock Holmes stories has sold for £15,500.

    Study in Scarlet, which features Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s first two Holmes tales, was donated to a Harrogate, North Yorkshire, branch of the charity.

    A private collector has paid £6,600 for poems by the man ridiculed as “the world’s worst poet”.

    Caribbean poet Cesaire dies at 94

    Poet and political activist Aime Cesaire has died in Martinique aged 94.
    Born on the French Caribbean island in 1913, he became famous for promoting black consciousness and challenging the political establishment.

    Cesaire was partly responsible for coining the word “negritude”, a term affirming pride in black identity.
