Welcome to the Artists Blog

When did you first become interested in art?

The interest in art and drawing was bestowed upon me since I was child. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t interested in drawing…

It wasn’t until later that I found a new source of creation: digital illustration. I feel that I found myself the most using digital media (Photoshop, wacom tablet)

I have recently dove into the world of watercolor. I’m really enjoying that.

Has your style changed from when you first began as an artist?

Oh yes… very much so.

: }

What style of art do you use most?

(This is always a hard question for me~)

But, I feel my work reflects a combination styles that I admired throughout my life…

Some that I can name:
manga/anime
surrealism
contemporary art

I always strive to accomplish different types of styles within my ’style’, though, I do think these different styles derive from the same places as my ‘main’ style….

What medium do you use?

Digital (Photoshop, Wacom Tablet) and a tad of Watercolor

What made you choose that medium?

I feel that I work the most comfortably with it.

Do your ideas come from life or imagination?

Hmm….

Well…I would like to think my ideas come from both…though…
I would have to claim that my ideas come from imagination…

Though, as they say…”Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief”

How do you choose your images and colours?

Through experimenting and sketchbooks and thinking and learning…

Who is your favourite artist?

My favorite artists include:
Amy Sol
Mark Ryden
Audrey Kawasaki
Daniel Lim (aka Fawn Fruits)

What is your favourite piece of work by yourself?

I feel that “she has a puny imagination” is one of my favorite pieces.

How much time (on average) does it take to complete a work?

I would have to say….3-6 hours…though, the time depends on the piece.

How well do you take criticism?

I like to claim that I take it fairly well.

What do you do to overcome a ‘block’?

I tend to go out, buy a mocha, and read at Barnes and Noble…
I also tend to look at other’s pieces…but sometimes I feel it is best to slow down
and take a breath.

How do you know something is ‘finished’? Is it easy to walk away?

I never feel anything of mine is finished…I always find myself going back and tinkering with my work.

Have you had exhibits in galleries?

Well…

One at a local coffee shop called “The Rocket Star”
I am trying hard to find places and to come up with enough work to have exhibits.

Have you any exhibits in galleries planned for the future?

I hope so…
(If anyone can guide me in the correct direction, I would be forever grateful : })

What are your plans for the future?

I hope to keep drawing, keep painting, and keep learning.

What advice would you give new artists?

I know this may be repeated over and over again but… I will say it anyways:

Practice and constant activity is important. I feel that if you truly take this to heart, you will improve. And…don’t be afraid to fail…try to keep the fun in creation.

Know yourself.

Thank you very much for the interview :)   I love the storybook quality of your work…
