This gallery is a collection of my favorite photographs, primarily focused on landscapes, sunsets and gorgeous scenery with a smattering of flora, fauna and still life.
Maligne Lake

Ice cold glacial water rushes through the forest before bursting into the sunlight and plunging over rugged, striated rock. (Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, 2007)
The cloudy turquoise color of the water is the result of fine particles of rock ground down by the glaciers (a.k.a. glacier flour or rock flour). The color varies based on the amount of rock flour suspended in the water.

In the fall, Mt. Rundle is particularly intriguing as the early snow clings to the striations of rock. The nearly still water of Cascade Pond enhances the serenity of the moment as it reflects the beauty of this magical place. (Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, 2007)

As the pier juts out over the water, parallel streams of light pour through the railing and onto the sand, as if in a race for the horizon. (Pismo Beach, California, USA, 2007)

The setting sun glows warmly from behind the hills up toward the foreboding clouds after a recent rainstorm. The trees on the left also admire the beauty of the moment as I'm sure they have for decades. (Highway 1 south of Pismo Beach, California, USA, 2007)

As your gaze wanders from the pier, warm in the orange glow of the incandescent lights, up through the yellows and greens at the horizon into the blues and violets of the night sky, you find yourself sharing in the fascination of the little girl in the foreground. An intriguing fusion of natural and artificial light. (Pismo Beach, California, USA, 2007)

A formal place setting adds to the ambiance of elegant dining. However, what caught my eye was the centerpiece of a single orchid floating in a tapered glass vase. Here, in the foreground, it resumes its prominence in the photograph just as it did when I first saw it that night. © 2007
