Gladiator chic hits the catwalk at student fashion show

Gladiator-inspired womenswear made from moulded plastic, ‘circus freak’ dresses, and an all- organic collection inspired by nature, are just some of what’s on the catwalk at Salford University’s graduate fashion show at Manchester Town Hall on Thursday 29 May.

Industry name, Nick Crook, editor of Menswear Buyer magazine will be hosting the shows adding his expert input to the event. The cutting edge designs are being shown off by professionally styled models, with hair by Tony and Guy and make-up by the Body Shop.

Course Leader, Bashir Aswat, said: “We are very excited about the upcoming show. The students have been working really hard putting the finishing touches to their latest outfits. There is some amazing work on display - taking inspiration from roman armour and even circus costumes.”

The shows promise to be of a very high standard - with some of the students already having worked for top British designers such as Vivienne Westwood and Margaret Howell.

The Town Hall fashion shows are the only chance to see the student’s latest creations before they head off to catwalk shows in London at Graduate Fashion Week on 8 June - which is widely regarded as a showcase for the very best graduate fashion design talent in the UK.
