1stAngel: When did you first become interested in art?
Aloramyst: I have always been interested in artwork and creating it since I could hold my first crayon, lol. I have even been caught sneaking charcoal out of the wood stove to use for many designs and to pass the time.

1stAngel: What style of art do you do and what made you choose it?
Aloramyst: I do a variety of artwork, I only limit myself by my imagination, which has no limits. I like to give a try at all expressions and styles at least once. Currently I am doing a lot of creating through digital mediums. I enjoy being in nature and photography. I use software programs to enhance and manipulate the images to create some unique designs. However as the mood strikes me I can be just as easily found with a paint brush in my hand or some pencils and even crayons creating other works.

1stAngel: Has your style changed from when you first began as an artist?
Aloramyst: When I first began creating artwork, the option of digital work was not available to me, but now it is and I am exploring all it has to offer and thoroughly enjoy it. I enjoy mixing mediums and as a result what once was just a sketch or a painting becomes something new. Never a dull moment with the creative energies at play in my life.

1stAngel: What medium do you use?
Aloramyst: Currently I am using an affordable HP camera, that was purchased for me as a gift. I enjoy using the enhancement program that comes with the camera called HP Photosmart Premier and I also like to use Photoshop CS2.

1stAngel: What made you choose that medium?
Aloramyst: My choice of medium to use varies with my imagination and my moods. I try not to put myself into just one medium but have fun playing with them all.

1stAngel: Do your ideas come from life or imagination?
Aloramyst: Life provides much experience and imagination creates the rest within in my artwork. My ideas come from both reality based in the physical realm as well as other realms. I have also done some trace work, and automatic drawing, in which I am not aware of what the artwork will be until it is done.

1stAngel: How do you choose your images and colours?
Aloramyst: I choose by final outcome, in which I play with a variety of them till the ones that appeal to me come forward. Sometimes these colors are purposely combined other times they are a result of letting the creativity flow. It really depends on what I am creating the work for or if I am just creating for the sake of creating.

1stAngel: How much time (on average) does it take to complete a work?
Aloramyst: Each piece takes different times to complete. I don’t place time limits on creations, some are finished very quickly, others can take weeks or months to finish.

1stAngel: What do you do to overcome a ‘block’
Aloramyst: To overcome a block, I would recommend music, nature, taking a short break and coming back to creating. I have never experienced a block in creating artwork as there is so much in nature and life around me, that there is always something I can take inspiration and motivation from to create.

1stAngel: Who is your favourite artist?
Aloramyst: My favourite artist is Me! I know that sounds a little egotistical, however I really enjoy my own artwork.

I enjoy the process of creating it and I do hang it on my own walls because I like it. If there is something about a piece that I do not like, I can play with it until its something I love.

1stAngel: What is your favourite piece of work by yourself?
Aloramyst: I don’t have one piece of favourite artwork that I have created. I love them all! And its very hard for me to chose from them.

I usually let outside influences determine what pieces will be chosen for various events or display. However you are more than welcome to browse my gallery on my website to see if you can find a favourite of your own, located here: http://www.freewebs.com/aloramyst/index.htm

1stAngel: How well do you take criticism?
Aloramyst: I don’t take criticism! If someone doesn’t like my artwork that is their issue to deal with. I do take suggestions for learning new applications and then play with them. There will always be someone who doesn’t like my artwork and there will always be someone who does. Especially being that I like my own work, lol.

1stAngel: How do you know something is ‘finished’?
Aloramyst: Is it easy to walk away? My artwork is finished when I feel like its finished. However I have been known to go back to older work and digitally incorporate it into new pieces. So I guess you would say my artwork is never finished as it constantly changes.

1stAngel: Have you had exhibits in galleries?
Aloramyst: I have had exhibits in galleries and I do enjoy the process of doing them. Exhibits provide not only the ability to show my work but also provides a very social aspect and its great when you can do exhibits with other artists. Coming together with others for one purpose always has wonderful results and is a great learning curve for all involved.

1stAngel: Have you any exhibits in galleries planned for the future?
Aloramyst: Presently I have a call for art out on the net for other artists that would be interested in participating. The link to details is here: http://www.freewebs.com/aloramyst/callforart.htm

1stAngel: What are your plans for the future?
Aloramyst: My plans for my artwork is to keep creating it and sharing it with whomever would like to view or own it. It is something that I will do for the rest of my life.

1stAngel: Looking back, what has been the best part of your work?
Aloramyst: The best part of my work, is the creation process. I enjoy creating artwork, however the mundane part such as advertising, tagging and uploading for sale, I tend to drag my heels on, but eventually get it done. I create for me, and get around to sharing it all with others when I have time.

I know what you mean about the mundane side of the art we do, Aloramyst! Good luck in your future endeavours :) Thank you for the interview!
