Seven students studying on the UWE Foundation Degree in Creative Practices at Filton College will be holding their first exhibition at the Fedden Gallery, RWA, Queens Road in Bristol from 14 to 20 April 2008. The students are all studying on the Fine Art pathway of the degree which is a new venture between the two institutions.
Foundation degrees are two year degree programmes that have an emphasis on work based learning. At the end of the programme students can graduate at that point or continue for a third year to gain an Honours degree with UWE.
The seven artists whose work is on show are: Jim Bird, Angry Child, Dafna Falk, Jess Carew-Gibson, Tara Roberts, Michelle Trepka and Joe Tymkow.
Joe Tymkow, curator of the exhibition, says, “This exhibition is a chance to see exciting thought-provoking new work by seven Bristol based artists, working in a diverse range of media, including, painting, printmaking, installation and sculpture.
“The work on show demonstrates their emerging identity as artists, covering themes from fragmentation, spiritual bankruptcy and the human condition, through to explorations into the process of painting itself.”
The Exhibition will be on show in the Fedden Gallery, RWA, Queens Road, Clifton, Bristol BS8 1PX from Monday 14 April to Sunday 20 April 2008 (preview Sunday 13 April 2.00-5.00pm)
