There are many reasons why I may select an art piece for the “Pick of the Day”‘ medium, style, technique and subject matter to name a few. As I browse there images that captures my attention, and I wish I could place them all. This image caught my attention with it’s subject matter, medium, technique and the artist’s biographical statement. I love pen and ink stippling because of the precission involved and the amout of discipline applied by the artist to accomplish the task. I have created a few stippling pieces and let’s face it, the task can be a bit tedious, as that inward anxiety sets in to see a finished product. If you have the patience, the outcome can be beautiful, just be careful of blotching, aarrgh! Subject matter, well let’s say I am drawn (no pun intended) to all things DeNiro. Art is to be enjoyed and upon reading this artist’s bio, enjoyment, passion and committment rings clear.
“I’m a traditional artist working with mostly pencil, pen and ink, pastels, marker, oil, acrylics, and some digital drawings. I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a little guy, still in diapers. My first masterpiece was a drawing of Christ. I copied the picture off of my Grandmother’s wall. I remember how she started to cry when she saw it. I didn’t like seeing her cry but I did like the fact that my drawing made her cry. And at such a young age, I learned the power of art.
I’ve taken art classes through out grade school and high school, and eventually I graduated from Fairliegh Dickinson University with a degree in Fine Art.
I am a manager at a trucking company now, but I do a lot of freelance illustrations, murals and commissioned portraits on the side…. maybe someday it will grow into a full time job!! It’s more than a hobby. Drawing and painting is something I have always loved to do.”
