Pick of the Day – Lamis Dachwali
A gallery filled with talent, elegance and beauty. Enjoy the view, I surely have. Thank you Lamis!
Lamis Dachwali is Distinguished Syrien American artist. Born in Damascus, she studied in the college of Fine Arts, and was among the first graduiting class of 1965.Over forty years, my artistic style has gone through several stages. Of course, I will not continue to repeat myself throughout that period.
After graduating university, I had a special attempt that I consider a catalyst for a new style, which I return to every once in a while with a definite progress. This, however, has not prevented me from practicing styles that was always fond of such as impressionism or surrealism.
When I paint portraits. I try to gives faces a beauty and use happy colors. My most recent stage is to adopt abstraction in subjects that I leave my colorfyl marks in and which give immediate (and sometimes conflicting) impressions. I believe it is a mix of impressionism and surrealism and abstraction together in my special style which I started in my beginnings, blending in the progress that I achieved over many years and long experience.
