When did you first become interested in art?
My family are very artistic and so from an early age it’s been a part of my life watching other’s create. I have always been creative, making things for my home, shelves units, beds, cupboards and anything you can mention that is made from wood…except a boat 
) Oh but I did love art at school….any kind, as long as I could daydream in the middle of it.
What style of art do you use most?
Yes it has changed, at first it was very bright and strong on black mostly – I loved the dramatic effect I could get but now I am making it a little less dramatic sometimes with softer colours and adding other elements to it from other mediums. I find the mood is the dictator really and the inspiration at the time.
Has your style changed from when you first began as an artist?
My style varies so much I can’t really pinpoint one, some can be a bold and in-your-face kind of art and some are have a more soft and mellow approach if the mood takes me there. The only style that fits at all is magical realism I guess, something that can be real but has a surreal feel to it.

What medium do you use?
I found Apophysis and it was the most wonderful thing on earth to me. It has so many possibilities. I find with fractals I can create anything from a rose to an alien, the softest flowers to the hardest metals and that is the thing that excites me about this programme….it’s endless in it’s ability to give you the idea and the inspiration to create an image that will be something you have never seen before…that to me is magic.
What made you choose that medium?
I found it by chance really….It was a rainy day and I had nothing to do. I found this programme and it’s been my favourite ever since. I will, in time, try other ones, but this will always be my favourite.
Do your ideas come from life or imagination?
In the kind of medium I use the basic fractal and I work on that fractal, changing the shape until I find something that is pleasing to me. As for the other artwork I do, a picture might catch my eye or a statue and I want to see it in another surrounding, then I will use a programme to add the image and change it to how I like it.

How do you choose your images and colours?
With digital art it really is just a matter of working with the fracta you have chosen until it becomes something that is pleasing to the eye and then the colour changes until I find that it makes me feel good. I like fractals that are as realistic as possible and show something that I can relate to, unless I have chosen to create an abstract and then I just leave it as that.
Who is your favourite artist?
Oh…so many! I think my favourite has to be Thomas Kinkade – his cottages enchant me and the light he manages to show in every painting astounds me.
What is your favourite piece of work by yourself?
I would have to say Passion Juice…..
to me this sums up my work completely. It is bold in colour and although real in the sense that it looks like a glass with juice pouring into it, it also has a magical feel to it and if full of light.
How much time (on average) does it take to complete a work?
Oh, that depends on the fractal, sometimes it can take an hour or so if I find a colour I adore and want to work with that I will try many fractals in that colour. Or if it is a flower that has the right shape and I want to use the smudging tool that can take an hour or so too, but sometimes it all just fits.
How well do you take criticism?
Criticism to me is part of progress…if you can listen to it, without tearing your hair out, it’s always good for personal growth….maybe not the growth of your hair though )

What do you do to overcome a ‘block’?
A cup of tea and some time in the garden is always good for me.
How do you know something is ‘finished’? Is it easy to walk away?
Ah that’s easy, I feel it in my gut. When I feel it’s finished I get an excited feeling and want to share it…then I know it’s finished. It’s easy to walk away then. I know when it’s not easy to walk away, it’s not finished.
Have you had exhibits in galleries?
No. But maybe one day eh.
Have you any exhibits in galleries planned for the future?
No, not yet.

What are your plans for the future?
To grow and learn and maybe one day create something so unique and so beautiful that is just blows me away, that is my goal for now.
What advice would you give new artists? Go with what feels good to you.
