Rare violin may sell for £750,000
A rare Stradivari violin owned by musician Barbara Penny is expected to fetch as much as $1.5m (£750,000) at auction in New York.
Penny, who died last year, was the first woman accepted in the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra strings section.
The 18th Century violin is named The Penny after her and will go on sale at Christie’s auction house on 4 April. (more…)
