US folk star injured in bus crash
Grammy-winning Tejano music star Emilio Navaira is critically ill after his band’s tour bus crashed into barriers near Houston, Texas, his agent says.

He was one of eight passengers injured when the bus crashed in Bellaire, west of Houston, after his band Rio had played at a nightclub.
Navaira’s agent said the singer, 45, had surgery to remove a blood clot at the Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Tejano is the name given to folk music made by Hispanic-descended Texans.
Navaira’s agent Joe Casias said the next day would be “very critical”.
“On behalf of his family, we hope his fans will pray for Emilio,” he added.
Two passengers taken to the same hospital for minor injuries have since been released.
Five passengers were taken to the Ben Taub Hospital, but their conditions are not known.
In 2003, Navaira won the Grammy for best Tejano album, for Acuerdate.
