I have been having a wonderful holiday doing work LOL
I took a week off work so that I could concentrate on 1stAngel Arts Magazine and relax a little.
It has, so far, halfway through, been wonderful and I am not missing the stress at all. Don’t get me wrong. By Friday I will be biting at the bit and want to get back into work like crazy (by the way, I work here Pixels as Social Area Manager and Technical Support). I am really bad at getting bored and that job suits me down to the ground. However, halfway through I am really enjoying myself 🙂
The other day we went boating. Oh dear. The background was that we walk down the river often (I take photos of the narrowboats to turn into paintings) and we are always saying, ‘We must get a boat and go out on the water!’
So, holiday, I decided to take a bit of the bill money and turn it into a boat lol
The advertisement image of the boat has two people sprawled out in this 3 man boat, clearly relaxed on clear water, enjoying themselves.
The truth is that the 3 man is WAY too small for 3 and only just takes 2, with legs scrunched up.
It also is impossible to take the bag, which you need to carry the bits, as there is nowhere to put the bag when in the boat, apart from on top of one of you which can interrupt the oar flow….well, the whole flow of everything really, especially when you stop off to pick blackberries and then have to try and get them all back in one piece, (which, by the way, I can tell you that you cannot)
Having said that, I have not enjoyed myself so much in a long time. I am from fisherman stock and love the water as you can see from my paintings. Even my favourite artist is a painter of the seas, (Turner), and I enjoyed myself immensely. Robin however, not so much. He is over 6′ and moaned throughout. It was too small. He could not relax, the bag was pressing on his bits (when I rowed) It was too hard to row. etc etc It was too soft, too hard………..
If it was a solid boat (he said 100 times) it would go in a straight line. Because it is an inflatable, it wobbles more and so drifts off course.
True, we did go in many circles when he was rowing and travelled less than his height in about 5 minutes but, IT WAS FUN lol
We found out that it IS in my blood and I am actually a pretty good rower and I got us a long way very quickly and, to me, very easily.
We have therefore decided that I am the rower from now on and that, if we go again (we will but only I may go in the boat with him on his bike on the towpath) we will try and get to the pub up the path some distance.
That way, even if I go in circles, he falls off his bike, or the boat springs a leak and the last view anyone has of me is one of my legs up in the air as I slowly sink under the water…… neither of us will care much.
and, with that thought in mind, back to work on 1stAngel so I can afford to buy a wooden boat instead.
