Since my full-time entry into the artist's world, I've tried to merge my technical background, computer skills, creativity and love of art to produce unique and eye-catching works in the rapidly expanding field of digital art. Having met with early success I continue down this intriguing and experimental path. I've used computers to assist me with art since the early POV-Ray and Bryce programs came out; I had already been programming computers for years prior those programs being introduced. Many of my works are composites, some artworks being created using the same software for multiple renditions that are then melded together, other pieces using various features of different programs. All of them take a substantial amount of time and effort. My art is a true give-and-take between what I attempt to accomplish and what the evolving piece 'lets' me do. When I try to push the art in one direction it often responds differently and pulls me in another. The art itself surprises and directs me into the visual result rather than accepting any initial concepts. And so I simply let myself go and the art takes over and the evolution completes itself. Usually when I sit down to create a work of art I have no notion of the end result, although some works are roughly planned. Typically I just start and let my imagination fly. I seek and experiment and play with large numbers of variations until the artwork comes into life and evolves through my creative responses. A successful piece literally directs me down the path to completion, and it can be a pleasing path indeed! I've been an art lover ever since I first saw a Rembrandt painting decades ago, and my art appreciation continues to grow. I support the visual arts in my community, participate in several art leagues, am an art collector, a frequent gallery and museum visitor, and I sell my creations both online and in shops and art galleries. I like to create unusual and unexpected works of art. I enjoy both oil painting and digital art; two diverse methods that both bring me a lot of pleasure. CONTACT THIS ARTIST
