What were your musical influences growing up?

Musical Influences: Well…One of the very first “Rock and Roll” memories that I still retain happened sometime around my second or third year of life: We were living in Washington State (sometime around 1968-69), and my dad, already being experienced in the ways of smoking, used to play his favorite records while jumping around and “dancing”, with at least one (and sometimes two) of us kids hanging onto him for dear life, and one of his favorites was a new band called Led Zeppelin, while one of my favorite songs to “dance” to was called Whole Lotta Love…Still quite a vivid memory at times…

What is your style of music?

My style of music: According to The Great Minister Skyddz (our “bassist” and aka The Rev”), The Musick, when in “group” form, should be catagorized at the top of a little known genre known as Tribal Rock, in which I’m sure, there are very few serious musicians included…(‘Cause they’re just plain scared to release such uninhibited sounds…;)

When The Musick is in “solo” form, it would probably be considered meditational by anyone whom would take the time to really listen to it. Personally, I like to call it psychedelic though (I think that that word adds alot more color to it than any other word available at the moment).

Has your style changed from when you first began as a musician?

LMAO…yes, I think that it has…

Do you play an instrument?

yeah, I play a Fender Stratocaster exclusively now (but only because my Gibson SG was stolen and my Yamaha SBG 1000 was vandalized and broken by some jealous fanatic…) And I have a G&L bass guitar that I mess with sometimes.

What made you choose that instrument?

Well, a few years ago my wife was owed some money for a job that she did and this guitar was left as collateral…after a few months of holding on to it, I decided to plug this thing in (it was the Yamaha, the same one that Santana used to play), and after a few days, there was no way that they were going to get it back…for any amount of money.

Do your write your own tracks?

Write down the music?…lol…Nope, just play it, and play it just once, to the Universe, …and if the world is lucky that day, I record it…

Do you prefer writing or performing?

Writing or perfoming? Above all, when in a certain frame of mind I prefer playing my guitar. Although, there are times, that I just sit and listen the sounds that the guitar makes…It’s almost like Heaven sometimes…and other times, it IS Heaven.

If you have appeared live, were/are you very nervous or do you enjoy it?

I can appear “live” most any day (with a couple of hours notice, anyway), and yes, very nervous when I go out in the daylight, too.

What is your favourite track by yourself?

It’s really hard to explain that question, but I will try, lol. I have a mountain of tape with days of Musick recorded…and none of the tapes have names on them, let alone the tunes on the tapes. The ones that are named have names like “yesterday”, or “Today”, and most of them are called either “Solo”, or “Hippy Gypsys”…My favorite solo tune therefore (to answer your question), would have to be “the song about half of the way through the blue tape thats marked with a star in the corner”…if it’s not that one, though, it’s the one right behind it…

If you could have anyone’s music career, whose would it be?

Another LMAO…It would most certainly be mine, when mine gets better! (Everyone that I admired is either dead or to old to play anymore, and neither one of those options are very condusive to creation…if you know what I mean…)

Do you have a girlfriend/boyfriend? Are they supportive?

If I answered yes to that question my wonderful and beautiful wife, Doris, would fuckin’ kill me…

What do you dream about when asleep?

I dream alot about my mom and dad, more than what I would think is normal, actually…But the good thing though, is that for the last few months, they have finally started to talk to me again…

Do you think the internet has altered the way musicians can get known?

Yes, I think that it has altered it quite a bit, and I also think that it has really demeaned the word “musician”, so that it is now in the same catagorie as the term “D.J”….or “President”….or “Policeman”….

Have you had concerts/records?

No, but Ive had some pretty damn good fantasys though…

Have you any concerts/records planned for the future?

Yes, most certainly do I have future recordings planned. As for concerts, someone would have to get me pretty damn loaded to go on stage sober enough to play…

What are your plans for the future?

To sell everything I have and move to Mexico, open a commune and resort for the Rich and Beautiful people of the world that have too much money to spend on just themselves….

What advice would you give to young musicians looking to get into the profession?

I would tell them NOT to follow any of my advice, no matter how much I would choose to give them…Although the “hard way” is surely much easier now, the “hard-road” is harder than you can even imagine…

Have you done any courses to help you?

Of courses…of courses, nope, no courses.

What do you do to market your work?

If, by “market” you mean by selling?…lol, none so far, but, I am interested in having more people listen to The Musick, if only for one song…Thats all I really want, maybe 10 minutes of undivided attention…and I would trade this for a promise…

Do you use social networking in your day to day life?

Are you available for work (gigs)?

Sure! I’m a great handy-man and auto mechanic, and there’s not a thing in the world that I cant fix. I’m thinking about going over seas and taking a look at that broken super-conductor they have over there (I’ve always wanted to see what a smashed atom looked like…)

Have you got hobbies?

Yes! Mushrooms, steamshowers, and sex…all to the tunes of AT8FATES.

Where are you based?

At the moment, just in the front room but, we’ll be moving here pretty soon and hopefully it will be somewhere with a studio for recording in…and it would be nice if it had a hot tub too…lots of steamy mirrors, and surround sound speakers in the back yard…yeah.
